15.10.2018 Home to Russbach – Annaberg – Hüttau – Bischofshofen (quick coffee stop). Very cool in the morning and hazy (more clouds than forecast). After Bischofshofen via Hochkönig – Dienten – Saalbach am Steinernen Meer – Zell am See – after Piesendorf Stop for lunch at Gasthof Waidachhof (turkey schnitzel salad). Carried on to Mittersill and Krimml. Then Gerlos Pass. Euro 6.50 per motorbike. 12km between Krimml and top of the pass. 1628m high. Straight down to Zell am Ziller. Overnight at Hotel Restaurant Rosengarten. Zell am Ziller totally geared towards winter skiing season. Room OK. Food mainly Pizza and Schnitzel. I had Pizza, Geoff had Lasagne. OK, but a bit oily.
16.10.2018 Breakfast was OK, the girl spoke very good English (she worked 2 years in Bath). Quick ride to Krimml to the waterfalls. Parked bikes, free bike lockers. Euro 4.00 per person entrance fee to the falls. We hiked up to Number 8, Schönangerl, 1306m – quite a slog in our motorbike clothes. Salad and Kaspressknödelsupper (which was very good). Path: 4km to Upper Falls, 380m over 3 levels, largest waterfalls in Europe.
Then had to ride all the way home via Hochkönig – it got dark and cold. Had a quick coffee in Bischofshofen to warm us up and from then on we were all the way almost in the dark. That was a first – never ridden in the dark before. And it was getting colder and colder. I was really glad when we got home.
